Autopsy shows that a woman found in a submerged vehicle died by suicide.
The Kitsap County Coroner stated that the cause of the demise of a 46-year-old woman whose body was discovered in a submerged car in the water near Lions Park in Bremerton on Friday died as a result of suicide.
The coroner last week identified the woman in the car as Jessica J. Legate, 46. On Tuesday, the Kitsap County Coroner’s Office said an autopsy ruled that the cause of death was saltwater drowning and that the manner of death was suicide.
Bystanders reported a car submerged in Puget Sound off Lions Park just after 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon, according to Bremerton police. Rescue swimmers responded and confirmed found Legate’s body in the back seat of the vehicle.
