Breaking news: COVID-19 variant found in Kitsap.

Kitsap County: A new variant of COVID-19 has been found in Kitsap County for the first time. The new variant could be more dangerous than the earlier mutations. The experts believe that the new mutation founded in britain《B.1.1.7》 would spread itself rapidly, and so new measures must be taken immediately to stop the spread.

The B.1.1.7 strain, as mentioned earlier, was first discovered in the United Kingdom. The Washington State Department of Health says that the new strain directly links with the united kingdom’s theme.

According to the Department of Health, the B.1.1.7 variant spreads rapidly compared to other strains; it is much more powerful and challenging to treat. It extends from person to person, and there have been researches that clearly say that the new variant is more likely to cause severe illness and death.

All available COVID-19 vaccines are known to provide reasonable protection against this new strain, along with masking at all times, social distancing, and hand-washing. The other guidelines would be issued in a short period by the Washington health department.

“The emergence of COVID-19 variants increases the potential for more people in our community to become sick, be hospitalized, and potentially die from this pandemic,” Kitsap Public Health District Health Officer Dr. Gib Morrow said.

“Fortunately, we have the tools we need to stop these mutated viruses from spreading. I’m asking all Kitsap residents to keep fighting the spread of COVID-19 and be ready to get vaccinated as soon as they are able.”

January and February saw a significant decline in the positive cases numbers, but COVID-19 has been rapidly increasing in Kitsap County, with 48 deaths have occurred since the starting of 2021.

It is suggested that for our safety and our loved ones, we must remain at hope, wear masks in offices, public places, and public transportation, proper social distancing must be seriously followed by all.
